Summer is coming, signaling that the best season of the year for shooting stars has arrived, this year I was lucky enough to be able to experience H&Y Mist White Square Lens Filters1/2 with frame for shooting the stars, and I took this filter to shoot some starry sky locations around Wuhan.
The equipment I used for this test is: Nikon z5 + Old Frog 15 F2 camera lens combination with H&Y mist white square filter 1/2 with frame to shoot. In the process of using the filter, I was very surprised to find that the filter used for portrait photography, when capturing the bright starry sky showed a fantastic effect, breathtaking.
Mist White Filter: Often used for portrait photography, it is also the most commonly used tool in portrait photography, which can soften the highlights of the picture, giving the photo a delicate and warm visual enjoyment.
Mist White Filter with its unique charm, not only limited to portrait photography, in the starry sky photography also show extraordinary, it is this softening of highlights filter characteristics, can make the dark night under the dome of the brighter stars more obvious.
However, when using a soft focus lens to photograph the starry sky, the world under the lens seems to be enchanted, and the star points are gently enlarged. Next, let's look at the following 3 sets of comparison pictures, what is the difference between not using a soft focus lens well and using a soft focus lens.
The Summer Triangle is the triangle formed by Vega in Lyra, Tientsin IV in Cygnus and Altair in Aquila in the southeast sky in summer.
In Figure 1, these three bright stars are difficult to recognize without the soft focus lens, but with the soft focus lens, the star points are magnified and the triangle formed by the Summer Triangle is very clear.
When we take a closer look by comparing Figure 3 and enlarging the image by 100%, the true face of the Heart of Two is finally unreservedly revealed in front of our eyes. What's more, we can feel the unique charm and mystery of the depths of the universe in every gaze.
The summer Milky Way, a band of light extending from the northeastern horizon to the southern horizon, is composed of several bright stars and constellations, including Scorpio, Libra, Sagittarius, Corona Australis, and some other constellations. It can be viewed on a clear, cloudless night sky in summer. It is the multiple bright stars that make the starry sky more brilliant and three-dimensional when using a soft focus filter.
July and August summer Milky Way appears in the moon phase good lunar calendar after the twentieth to before the tenth lunar calendar, these dates are basically free from moonlight interference time, you can shoot the summer Milky Way with clear details.
It should be noted that there is no fixed parameters for shooting the stars, it is based on the actual local conditions. Shutter according to the 300 rule to determine the minimum shutter time: for example, 15mm lens, the minimum shutter time is 20 seconds, aperture open to the maximum.
ISO is adjusted according to the actual situation, generally set up the camera, I will first try to shoot a few, look back at the histogram of the camera photos, try to achieve the dark parts are not dead black, the bright parts are not overexposed.
